Friday. And the cold snap continues. It's definitely winter outside. At least global warming is removed from everyone's minds at the moment, eh? I have a pretty extreme headache this AM. Not making me very happy. My wife is having a rough week, too, with the job hunting that is going on. She is rather sick of working in her department (English), because she thinks that she is being denied advancement in the department (her direct supervisor told her that she probably won't get the job that's opened there because there are more experienced people out there). That's pretty unprofessional if you ask me, and not a way to induce loyalty in your staff member. My wife did tell the Undergraduate chair of the comments, and she's pretty sure that her immediate super heard the riot act from the chair. That's good, but I'm sure that doesn't endear anyone to her. Another case of supervisory ineptitude in the workplace.
Still struggling with concepts for my next game. I really haven't spent that much time on it, and I should just sit down and start really hacking something out. I have an idea of the philosophy I'm taking on this game compared to the last one. The last one became a railroad fest, where as I want this one to be a little more free-flowing, with more independence for the characters to do what they want, to discover any over arching plot to their own means, or at least with minimal railroading. I want the PCs to have more than a little say in their actions. I don't want them to feel like they are being pushed to anything. We'll see. I'll have to concentrate on places to adventure to, and then build adventure ideas around them. Lots of places and NPCs to play with, especially if I start over. This could be fun, I'm getting excited about some sort of sequel. I should work on it tonight. Perhaps I will.

Well, recent days have been pretty good. There have been peripheral things going on around here, but nothing very exciting. Plenty of things to mention, and maybe I will if I get to it.
First is that there appears to be a schism downstairs among the office staff. One of our office staff is relatively new, she has just been here a bit short of 6 months, which is the end of the probationary period for staff here. It appears that the other office staff worker, who is her functional supervisor, doesn't like her much (it appears to be mutual, actually), and has recommended that she shouldn't be kept beyond her probationary period. So, she's been asked to resign. And she's accepted. So I wonder, what did she really do to be asked to resign? Did she do anything, other than go over her head everyonce in a while. It's all very peculiar. I don't get it.
Otherwise, saw another nice house that we might want, but on the other hand, one of our nice houses was sold the other day. That's too bad, but we still have three! No sign of a pre-approval letter, but It should be in soon. With that in hand we can start making offers on the houses we do like. I have my top two, and Sarah has her top two, do they match? I don't know. Sarah is pretty set on living in town, where I'd rather live a little farther out, but that is just because we can afford a bigger house out in the middle of nowhere like that.
Game went well last night. Struggling to make a consistent character. He's distinct, and a bit goody goody, but I'm working toward a gradual maturation. We'll see. The party wasn't very goody goody last session, and my character definitely did not feel heroic. :-) Over half way to level two, though. Can't wait for those extra spells. We've been through two sessions and my character has cast no spells. Yikes. And shot three crossbow bolts. Strange, but with such a large group, that is not surprising. There are 7 people in the game and the DM. That's an awful lot.
Not running at all. Mostly biking, and I'm doing a piss poor job at that. have to keep going. It's been so farking cold here, that running in 0 windchills just doesn't sound even remotely exciting. It should break freezing on Monday, though, I'm so going out the door then. I'm starting to look forward to running in 50 and 60 degree days!
Not much else to say...
